Seven Kisses in the Bible

February 2, 2011

THE SEVEN KISSES IN THE BIBLE.

The Kiss is a graceful demonstration of love that expresses our passion for a person whom we love and respect. To honor someone, kisses are done in private or in public. Generally speaking it is offered as a greeting, farewell, adoration or worship. People hate to kiss somebody they dislike. No one desire to receive a kiss from someone they don’t know. And we never kiss a total stranger or yearn to be kissed by a stranger.

Anatomy of a kiss reveals, twenty muscles act together in harmony to create a decent kiss. The Smile seems to be a close relative of a kiss, because 19 muscles moves together to demonstrate a smile. You will smile when you passionately kiss some one you like. If two strangers kiss each other with no specific reason, there must be some thing terribly wrong. And a dishonest expression of love reflects meaningless exchange of empty emotions. It is as funny as two dead bodies kissing each other.

The Screen kiss is a loveless kiss and an intimate kissing shot in a movie is not an easy act to shoot. In Films, professional kiss is a part of the actors momentary expression of love for a particular scene and it is done without a long lasting commitment. The longest recorded kiss took place in New York on Dec 5th, 2001. It lasted 30 hours, 59 minutes and 27 seconds.

Seven stages seen in a wholesome kiss are the following.

1.Head to body        [your head scans the whole person you kiss]

2.Eye to eye            [your eye gets locked with the eye of the person you kiss]

3.Voice to Voice       [your voice exchange words of grace to honor the one you kiss]

4.Hand to hand       [your closeness make you do a hand shake with the person you kiss]

5.Hand to Shoulder [you embrace the person you kiss]

6.Face to face         [your faces should touch in a kiss]

7.Lip to lip                [your lips demonstrate intimacy than merely speaking the words of love]

The Kiss is a very sensitive thing. Nine senses are in action in a very intimate kiss.

1.Sense of sight      – [Perception of vision]

2.Sense of sound    – [ Perception of sound]

3.Sense of smell      – [Perception of smell]

4.Sense of taste     – [Perception of taste]

5.Sense of touch    – [Perception of pressure]

6.Sense of speed    – [perception of speed]

7.Sense of balance – [perception of balance]

8.Sense of time       – [perception of timing]

9.Sense of heat      – [perception of heat]

In the American wedding, after the ceremony, the Priest will tell the Bride Groom to “Kiss the Bride”.

It is the first expression of true love and togetherness. Gen 2:24 says, a man shall leave his father and mother

and be joined to his wife, they shall become one flesh. And it begins with a kiss. The one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 1 Cor 6:17

SEVEN KISSES IN THE BIBLE.

1. The Kiss of Life.

God is light; in Him there is no darkness. In the beginning when God created the Heaven and the earth, the darkness was over the surface of the deep. To bring His dominion over the state of darkness, God spoke His heart and send His awesome word through His mouth. God said, “Let there be light, and there was light” (Gen 1: 1-3). Jesus Christ the Son of God is the light of life. He is the true light that illuminates every man. He gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not exist (Rom 4:17). He is the King of Glory. He is the image of the invisible God. In the very first encounter with the mankind, the Last Adam kissed the first Adam with a kiss of life. We read, “God formed the man of dust from the ground and God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life “(Gen2:7). The Breath of Almighty gives life (Job 33:4).

So every thing that has breath may praise the Lord now. Hallelujah.

Today to receive a new kiss of life, breathe the fragrance of Heaven by listening the Word of God. “All Scripture is God breathed” [2Tim 3:16]. The breath of God gives understanding (Job 32:8). Bible says, “Jesus breathed on the disciples” (John 20:22). The Scripture was not written by the will of man, but the holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2Pe 1:21). The Scripture brings an encounter with its Author, the Spirit of the Living God. “It is the Spirit who gives life” (Jn 6:63). Jesus said, “The words I spoke to you are the Spirit and life” (Jn 6:63). “He who has an ear,let him hear what the Spirit says” (Re2:7). “Incline your ear, come to me, hear me and your soul shall live”(Isa 55:3). Ezekiel (2.1) says, The Spirit entered into me when He spoke to me. Where there is Spirit, there is freedom. When we know the truth, the truth shall set us free. Jesus came to set the captives free. Apostle Paul wrote, “For the story and message of the cross is sheer absurdity and folly to those who are perishing and on their way to perdition, but to us who are being saved it is the [manifestation of] the power of God (1Cor1.18)

Let every heart get illuminated to clearly see the mystery of Christ in all its glory. His Voices imparts the fullness of His life in those who listen His word reverentially and obey Him completely!!! May your inner man get rejuvenated by a kiss of life from Christ the Breath of life. Amen!!!

2. THE KISS OF BLESSING

We know the Story of Isaac the father of twins in the book of Genesis (Gen27:1-19).Rebekah the mother of the twins loved the younger son Jacob more than Esau the elder one. She heard Isaac telling Esau to bring him a savory dish so that he can enjoy that delicacy and bless him. Before the elder son Esau did what his father told, his mother Rebekah informed Jacob about his father’s plan to bless Esau. She prepared a dish for the father Isaac on behalf of Jacob the younger son. But before Esau brought what his father said, Jacob reached Isaac with the savory dish in disguise of his brother Esau. Now watch carefully how the Isaac’s blessings came on Jacob instead of Esau.

In Gen 27:21 we read Isaac said “Please come close, that I may feel you my son, whether you are really Esau or not”.

Isaac said “the voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau”. A father’s senses are fully activated to feel the closeness of his son. Isaac asked his son something very passionate. “Please come close to me and kiss me, my son” (Gen 27:26-27). In disguise of Esau, Jacob came close and kissed his father first and got blessed by him.

Many people are not blessed today because they stay far from their Father in Heaven. Sin separates you from God, so repent before it is too late to run back and kiss Him. Jesus invites every one saying, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father in Heaven but through me”.”Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28). God is passionately waiting for you. Come near the Father in Heaven. Jesus is the one and only way to the Father. Jesus died in your place, He got punished for the sins you did against God. He carried all your curses on the cross. He rose again from the dead on the third day. He conquered the sin and death forever and became your Savior. Believe in the holy sacrifice of Jesus; and welcome His Lordship in your heart. If you repent and confess your sins, God will forgive your sins. The Blood of Jesus will cleanse your sins and make you stand righteous before God.

Here, you get the right to be the child of God (Jn 1:13).

Sin no more and remain in constant union with Christ till the end. Through your obedience of faith in His word, He is able to sanctify your whole being and make you stand blameless before Him. And the Lord will never leave you lonely. The Salvation of your soul is a kiss of blessing from the Father in Heaven and you receive it as you submit to God and embrace Christ His Son who died for you on the cross. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness every day and all the blessings will be given to you (Mt 6:33).

3.The Kiss of Compassion

Ps 85:10 says, “The mercy and truth are met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other”. On the cross Christ made peace with God for us.He became our peace for ever. John 3:16 says, “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”.God exchanged the life of His beloved Son Jesus to forgive the sins of all the prodigal sons. We see a kiss of forgiveness and compassion in the story of the prodigal son in Luk 15: 11-20.

“A man had two sons. The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate that falls to me.’So he divided his wealth between them. And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything and went on a distant journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living. After he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country and he began to be impoverished. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country. That guy sent him to the fields to feed the swine. And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods for the swine, but no one was giving even that to him.

But he came to his senses; he said ‘how many of my father’s hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger! I will get up and go to my father and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me one of your hired men’. So he got up and came to his father. While he was a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the father said to his slaves, “Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet and bring the fattened calf, kill it and let us eat and celebrate”.

Jesus said “I have this against you, you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen

and repent and do the deeds you did first;or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place”(Re 2:4-5). Do what the prodigal son did, humble yourself, truly repent and get back. Then God will also get back to you.

James 4:8, 10 says “Draw near to God, He will draw near to you” and “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord and He will lift you up”. Heb 4:16 says “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the Throne of Grace,

so that we may receive mercy and grace in the time of need”. Good Shepard gave up His life to find His lost sheep;

His sheep will hear His voice. Jesus asked, “Do you love me more than these?”

Embrace Him and never leave Him.Rejoice in Him and celebrate Him.His heart is full of love and tenderness; You may know, Father God is waiting to give you that Kiss of Compassion. But are you ready to run back?!!! In His presence there is fullness of joy and in His right hand there are eternal pleasures.

4.The kiss of separation

In the book of Ruth we see a kiss of separation. Ruth 1:14 Orpah kissed her mother in-law a kiss of good bye

and went back to her own people and their idols. She chose not to worship the living God with her mother- in law.

But Ruth the other daughter-in law left Moab and clung to her mother-in law to worship the Living God and got blessed.

Heb 3:12 says “Take care brethren that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the Living God”. In the book of Genesis (19:1-28) Lord came to destroy the head-quarters of sexual immorality, the Sodom and Gomorrah.

But the compassion of the Lord was upon Lot’s family who lived there. Even though Lot was hesitant to escape from there, Lord brought them out of those cities. Angels of the Lord said “Escape for your life! Do not look behind

you and stay any where in the valley, escape to the mountains”. Lord over threw those Cities and its inhabitants.

But the heart of the Lot’s wife’s was craving for Sodom. She disobeyed the instruction of the Lord and got cursed.

It is written “His wife from behind him looked back and became a pillar of salt” (Gen 19:26).

Many people’s spiritual lives are standing dead as a pillar of salt. They are reluctant to escape the corruption of this world by lust.Part with the sinful pleasures and flee from sexual immorality. Love the Lord with all your heart. Obey Him and never grieve Him. Partial obedience is disobedience.”If any one does not love the Lord, he is to be accursed” (1Cor 16:22). “It is a terrifying thing to fall in the hands of the living God” [Heb 10:31].

We see a heart-breaking Kiss of separation in Act 20:36-38 . “The brothers in Christ wept aloud and embraced Paul and

kissed Him again and again, grieving especially over the word he had spoken, that they would not see his face again” .

Before the three days of the demise of my beloved dad in Kochi, I was called for an urgent assignment of Recording in Mumbai. As I left, our eyes met for the very last time and I embraced Dad passionately and kissed him good bye. Deep down in our hearts we both knew that was our last kiss in this life time. Dad was in the last sinking stages of lung cancer. After a week I finished my work in Mumbai and I was coming back home, while I was in the train Dad passed away in the hospital. But he left something beautiful for me to remember all my life, a sweet kiss of separation.

But I will meet up with him in eternity.I have a hope that never disappoints, because my hope is in Jesus.

Our Lord Jesus is the Hope of Glory. Amen

5. The Kiss of Deception

Deception convinces people to believe the wrong or incomplete information, deception keeps the wholesome truth invisible and it reveals the half-truths. Adding or deleting anything from the Word of God is deception. In the Garden of Eden, Eve was deceived by the half truths interpreted by the deceiver. Devil twisted the instruction of God and contaminated the purity of God’s commandments. The lack of the complete obedience of faith in the absolute truth of God resulted in the fall of the mankind.

Pro 27:6 says “The kisses of the enemy are deceitful”. In the garden of Gethsemane Jesus was in pain, His body was sweating blood, His Spirit was in agony. His disciple Iscariot Judas is coming to betray Him. Deception breaks the trust between relationships. And it produces moral and deep psychological conflicts. Betrayal is the act of supporting the rival group. It bites like a cobra and paralyzes like a python.

In [Luk 22:47-48] Judas approached Jesus with an evil intention by giving Him a kiss of deception. May be devil the deceiver who stole the greedy heart of Judas made him believe, Jesus is able to save Himself from death and Judas can earn some good money in the bargain. Jesus said “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”. The thirty silver coins conquered and hardened the heart of Judas. Judas kissed the King of compassion with a kiss of deception.

So [Heb 3:13] warns us, not to get hardened by the deceitfulness of the passing sinful pleasures of this world. Apostle James wrote “Do not merely listen to the Word and deceive yourselves. Do what it says (Jam1:22)”. In [Rev 2:10] Jesus says, “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life”.We read “Blessed is the man who stands the test,

he will receive the crown of life ” (Jam 1:12). “Bad company corrupts good character” (1Cor 15:3). God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, he will reap (Gal 6:7). For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift from it (Heb 2:1).

6. The Kiss of worship

In these days of fake acts of worship [Psalms 2:12] says you better passionately “Kiss the Son”. Without an encounter with God you cannot do it. So you need to earnestly seek Him like the deer pants for water to see Him face to face.

An earnest seeker becomes a true lover and a true lover becomes a passionate worshiper. Like Ruth who came near Boaz and secretly expressed her desire for marriage, let your heart demonstrate your love to Jesus (Ruth 3:7).

In 2Cor 11:2-3 Paul wrote “I have betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.

But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ”. Fix your eyes on the author and finisher of faith (Heb 2:2). Our Lord is so adorable, more glorious and handsome than ten thousand lovers. Your Kiss of worship bonds you with Christ and unites you in one Spirit with Him (1Cori 6:17). How deep is your love??? True love will make you deny yourself and follow Him.

You will die daily and escape the corruption of this world and partake in His Divine nature (2Pe 1:4). You will joyfully say “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me”(Gal 2:20). The God pleasing act of worship sanctifies the worshiper to meet up with God face to face. “Without sanctification no one can see God”(Heb 12:14). Even if you sing the finest worship songs, even if you do the greatest worship dances or even if you worship in the biggest Churches, worship without transformation is totally unacceptable to God. Renewal of mind according to the perfect will of God is the heart of God pleasing worship. We are called to live the mind of Christ and resist ‘the mind of the flesh’ (Rom 8:5). For that Paul said,”Walk by the Spirit, so you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh” (Ga 5:16).

A vessel of honor keeps itself holy and pure like this (1Tim 4:5). Remain thankful and rejoice in the Lord, remember what has Lord done for you. “You have been bought with a price, therefore you should glorify God in your Body”(1Cor 6:20).

Before the texts of Theology of Worship was written, a passionate lady earned her degree in true worship and was honored by the Lord Himself. We see this true story in [Luke 7:36-50].

“Now one of the Pharisees was requesting Him to dine with Him and He entered the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. And there was a woman in the city who was a sinner. She learned that He was reclining at the table in the Pharisee’s house. So she brought an alabaster jar of perfume. She started to weep and began to wet His feet with tears. She wiped Lord’s feet with her hair and anointed them with perfume”. Here this praise worthy lady broke an alabaster jar full of expensive perfume as an expression of her love and devotion to Jesus. Simon the leper who invited Jesus was a Pharisee; He never even did the basic Jewish customs to welcome Jesus the Guest of Honor. And when Simon saw what the devoted lady was doing, he grumbled at Jesus regarding the reputation of that woman. But the Lord accepted her true adoration of worship and He said to Simon, “I came into your house and you gave me no water and you gave me no kiss unlike this woman, so her sins have been forgiven”.

When you repent truly before God, your sins are forgiven and your illnesses are healed.  But Simon refused to express his reverence and awe for the Lord and thank God for His holy presence in his house. Simon forgot how Abraham honored the presence of God in his house as three men visited Him. Abraham humbly put his face down on the ground and welcomed the presence of God and was mightily blessed by God. Simon denied to give Christ the Lord a kiss of worship. What a pity, Simon was not blessed, even though the Great Lord came to dine with him and bless him. No great gift was released by the Great Giver as Simon’s heart was thankless and loveless.

The Lamb of God was slain for all on the cross, He is worthy of all glory and honor and praise. So Psalms 2:12 says, “Kiss the Son!” or He be angry and you perish on the way. Let your heart kiss the Son with a kiss of worship.

7. Kiss of the Bride Groom

The Song of Solomon begins with a desperate cry for love. The spotless, lovable and kissable Bride cries, “Kiss me with the kisses of your mouth”. Church, the Bride of Christ is deeply craving now for a passionate kiss from the Lord.Nothing else will satisfy the Church more than the glorious encounter with Christ the King in the sky. Jesus said, I will build my Church and the gates of hades cannot overpower it [Mat16:18]. For more than 2000 years the Lord was building His Church and the glorious Church always defeated the gates of Hades. The Bride of the Lamb has keeps herself ready for the wedding of the Lamb.

Psalms 45:13 says the Royal daughter is all glorious within the palace. Song 6:11 says, She looks like the dawn,

She is fair as the moon and she remains pure as the sun.And Love burns like a blazing fire, it burns like a mighty flame, many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it, love is stronger than death. Jesus proved this on the cross by demonstrating the love of God to us. Shadrak, Meshak and Abednego proved their commitment and passion for God was stronger than the fire of human judgment. The zeal for the Church consumed the heart of Jesus (Jn 2:17).

Our Lord God is a Consuming Fire. His blazing flashes of Fire destroyed the works of all evil. He conquered the power of sin and death for ever.

All authority has been given to Him in Heaven and earth. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus said “I am the first and the last and the living one. I was dead and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and Hades” (Rev 1:17-18). The bride said to herself “I am my beloved’s and His desire is for me” (Song 7:10) . In (Rom 8:35-39) Paul the bond servant of Christ says, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, “FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED. “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Jesus our Lord. Day after day she is growing from strength to strength and glory to glory. She constantly gets deep rooted in Christ Her King. She fans into flame the gifts of the Holy Spirit and produces the fruit of the Spirit in all the seasons of life. She is awake like a violent warrior to fight a good fight of faith in her battles.

The Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and the violent one take it by force (Mt11:12). By His love this violent lady remains a triumphant conqueror (Rom 8:37) And she is awesome as an army with banners (Song 6:4) She says “let no one cause trouble for me, or I bear the brand-marks of Jesus in my body (Gal 6:17). God the Father has kept her blameless and Holy.

She tells the King of love “Kiss me; kiss me with the kisses of your mouth”. She says “draw me, let’s hurry”. The time is near for the second coming of Jesus the King of Glory. Are you ready? Devote your heart to a life of adoration and worship? Stay blameless, lovable and kissable till the Lord comes. With all your strength guard your heart and keep His word. Pray and fellowship with His Saints. Greet them with a holy kiss; give them all a kiss of love. Jesus says in Rev22:12 “I am coming quickly and My reward is with Me to give every one according to his work”. In Song 2:14 the King says “Oh my dove who sits in the cleft of a rock, let me see your face, and let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely.

Here I pray, Lord Jesus, come soon and kiss me with a sweet kiss of love. Amen

True worship exposes the life of Christ in the worshipper!

August 24, 2010

In natural life, the act of intimate love making between a man and woman ends up in the creation of new life. In spiritual life, the true worshipper’s intimate adoration ends up in conceiving the fullness of the life of Christ. When the betrothed virgin listen to the word of God, it sanctifies her. She falls in love with Christ and she surrenders her life to Him through her faith in His word. Here she get filled with the fullness of joy in the Holy Ghost. And she gets overwhelmed by the everlasting love of God and she thankfully delights in the eternal pleasures in her Lord’s presence.

True adoration and Worship is all about mud (the worshipper) from the earth denying itself and surrendering to God and resisting the devil and becoming soft mould-able clay by getting mixed with the Living Waters (the Holy Spirit) to be remoulded in the image of Christ (the One from above) on the potter’s wheel (the living sacrifice in the act of worship) at the Potter’s house (the Body of Christ) under the Holy hands of the Great Potter Heavenly Father. God moulds us as Christlike vessels filled with Divine power and Divine nature through our obedience of faith in completely doing His perfect will till the end. In the act of worship the Bride presents her body holy as a living sacrifice before God and she unites with Christ to become one with Him in the Spirit.

The act of worship make us dive into the deep love of Christ and see where the Deep is calling us deeper. True love casts out all fear. It make us fearlessly drown in God’s love and freely flow through the mighty Rivers of life by faith in God. True worship simply take us to the Holy of holies and help us to celebrate the inseparable love affair with Christ the Author and Finisher of faith. God pleasing worship begins when the eyes of the Bride engages in a constant eye contact with Christ the Lover of her soul. True worship originates from the obsession of the Bride who constantly embrace and kiss the Son who is a life giving Spirit. Her heart cries, ” Kiss me with the Kisses of His mouth, your love is better than wine”.

She knows her Lord is mindful of her. His words of true love from His mouth can intoxicate her in the spirit deep within. She knows His kiss is the kiss of life which imparted the Breath of life in the lifeless body of the first Adam. Bad company corrupts good character. But the union with the Person of Christ in the spirit, mind and body keeps the purity and divinity of the one who is betrothed to Him. Holy Spirit dwells in the body of the lovely Bride who uninterruptedly lives a life of sacrifice to please God with her act of worship. She pleads her Lord, “Take me away with you, let’s hurry”. She lives for just one thing, she lives to enter the chamber of the King of glory and dwell with Him eternally.

When the Bride adore Christ in the Spirit of God, the newness of the life appear in her through the inherent power of the imperishable Seed the word God sends to mould her in the image Christ. The Bride endlessly denies her own mind by faithfully living the mind of Christ her Lord and King. Pure brand marks of Christ in her body reveals her astonishing inner beauty in God’s presence. Her worship is the preparation for the wedding of the Lamb by seeking, knowing and doing the perfect will of God in real life!!! In the act of worship, if our heart is not completely subjective to the sanctifying work of the Spirit, we definitely end up worshiping God in vain.

Let our hearts crave to know Christ our King more and let our inner man grow deeply rooted in Him to remain spotless and glorious till He comes in the sky with His Angels. In all seasons of life the true worshipper’s heart worship God in the Spirit and Truth and reflects the glorious life of Christ indwelling in her. Amen!!!

The Towers of Babel and the Kingdom of God.

June 19, 2010

These days Churches forget to consider God’s great expectations about them. They degrade their core spiritual values to increase mass appeal and relevance in the current culture. In the rat race for success and significance if we ignore God’s purpose for us, it may contaminate the purity of our motives. The unclean motives are the evil bricks that build Godless towers of Babel. We are called to love and serve all people. But to touch the hearts of people with what we preach, our life should be Christ centered. Our perfect union with Christ the Light of life illuminate the dark world. As Royal priests appointed to minister to God, our first and foremost priority in the ministry should be about pleasing the heart of God for building His Kingdom than ours.

Ecstasies in the earthly space and the ecstasies in the Heavenly place!!!

The ecstasies of worldly excellence today draw new people to the congregation. But if we make Heaven ecstatic by our worship in Spirit and truth, more people will be drawn to the Throne of Grace and will fall deeply in love with Christ. Be on alert to always resist evil. Guard your heart with all your strength. We are called to joyfully remain as bond slaves under the yoke of Christ. Let nothing separate us from the love of Christ. His love song to us sings the same old tune. “Do you love ME more than these?!!!” Let your heart embrace and kiss the Holy Son, not the world with evil sons.

Church of God is the ultimate initiator of life change.

We should be driven by the Spirit of excellence in all dimensions of life and ministry for winning souls. Every single soul matters to God, because Christ died on the cross for all. But our compromises on the core scriptural values makes masses identify a comfort zone inside. And if they enter a Church thinking they don’t need a change of heart, they get filled with wrong perceptions on Christian life. If people are drawn by the glory of the world instead of the love of the Father, Church may take the role of an entertainer instead of a life transforming soul winner. The Church of God is the ultimate initiator of life change. Christ redeemed and separated us from the evil cultures of this dark world and we got transformed by conceiving His life and culture. If masses walk in through the entertainment corridor and take a seat, leaders may say, we have won all the souls for Christ after counting filled decision cards.

Message of the cross has inherent power to touch hearts and transform lives.

Filled decision cards reflect positive responses and it bring praises to God. It gives a good beginning for many. But from the new beginning on a decision card towards the crown of life, we have a long journey to eternity with Christ. A visitation from God inspires people to become a permanent habitation of God. Message of the cross has inherent power to touch hearts and transform lives. If we believe and act on His word we will never be the same again. If we deny ourselves and love God, we will constantly grow more mature in Christ. Christ is the Alpha and the Omega. The abundance of the grace in Christ helps us to continuously work out our Salvation to remain worthy for Him. Those who run their race to finish well in Christ should stay submitted to the Sanctifying works of the Spirit of Grace.

If there is no real life change, the great commission stays unaccomplished.

Instead of disciplining new comers, sometimes leaders take a short cut without emphasizing on the formation of the life and nature of Christ. Without engaging the hearts with Christ, they keep the crowd attracted to the Church through infotainment or Spiritainment. Gathering, keeping and managing the crowd is the part of executing the great commission. Very good, but ultimately if people don’t become true disciples of Christ, the great commission still stays unaccomplished.

Without constant renewal of minds many revivals died and became histories.

When God’s word is practiced and preached in the Church, sometimes people vanish as if travellers getting into a fast train for a secure place which demands no life change. Here Churches become Railway Stations, where people don’t to stay for long. Sound and Light shows en-thrill us, but if it fails to produce glorious new creations in Christ we miss the U-Turn of life change. Signs and wonders plus extra ordinary miracles heal the sick and deliver the Captives. But afterwards, if those blessed people never thankfully returns to become fully mature in Christ, their bodies get healed but their souls get lost. Theological studies are excellent, but if it creates puffed up heads with loveless hearts poisoned with human philosophy, the restoration of Christ likeness never happen. If Churches are not filled with a Divine atmosphere for transformation of character and conduct, people will never submit to God and get separated from evil. John 3.19 says, “This is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil”. Remember, without constant renewal of minds many great revivals died and became histories of the past.

Satisfied in printed notes on Christ than Christ Himself?

The Living Word wrote, the written word to lead people back to the Living Word Himself. The Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. But now people are satisfied with printed notes and certificates than Christ Himself. It is like buying a car for its owner’s manual instead of the vehicle. Here we ignore the person of Christ and refuse to give our companionship to HIM who sacrificed Himself to become our eternal Companion. We grieve the Holy Spirit if we don’t commit to live a life of true adoration and worship. If all of us stay focused on Christ and do the God ordained ministries given to us by contributing and complementing without compromising spiritual values, then we can witness Christ building His glorious Church in this generation.

Some Christian celebrities may become the architects of the Towers of Babel.

Some Christian celebrities think they have everything they need and they celebrate their success even before God celebrates His. They manufacture revivals without transformation that leads to transfiguration. They think they are rich and strong, can handle any problem with money power and influence. They speak or do anything and no one dares to speak to them even if they are terribly wrong. They will curse those people who ask questions. They refuse to slow down or stop even if God Himself may ask. They will say they will discuss with their mentors who are well paid to keep quiet. There seems no need for accountability and credibility. Now if we posses this mindset, doubtlessly we are the architects of the Towers of Babel. Today’s Churches terribly miss the inseparable union with Christ. We see Churches worship their leaders or traditions or programs, or even buildings more than Christ Himself. As a matter of convenience, maybe that’s what pleases many leaders! Today’s local Churches are messed up badly. Nevertheless if we are willing to clean up this mess, God can help us. But can we deny our selfish ambitions and humbly wait for God’s perfect plans? Are we ready to be led by the Spirit? There is hope, if the sons of God are willing to Change!!!

A Christ centered Church will be a heart cleansing, life transforming, world changing Church.

The Kingdom of God is not built by man made Theology and management expertise. And it is built on Christ the Solid Rock, if we ignore the foundational principles of Christ we will be building an entertainment Theater instead of a Church. A Christ centered Church will be a heart cleansing, life transforming, world changing Church. And its principles and action logic never contradict with the voice of the Spirit in the word of God. Its formulas are universally applicable for a victorious Christian life. The vulgarity of leadership gimmicks practiced in the name of effectiveness degrade the Christian values. To prevent this decay, all leaders should remain submitted to each other in the fear of Christ and stay accountable to God and the Church which they serve as servants not as owners or masters. If leaders don’t flee from these compromises, they may fail to witness Christ being fully formed inside and delivered outside from every single soul they have gathered for Salvation.

How praise worthy will you be in Heaven, what does your ministry ultimately promise people?

Great soul winning Churches may become greatest soul loosing places if the leaders are not led by the Spirit of God. When people disappear without returning, leaders driven by the Spirit of this world get back to their Entertainments again and the show goes on with false promises. The same mediocre spiritual story repeated over and over again. Take a break!!! How strong is your credibility? How praise worthy will you be in Heaven? What does your ministry ultimately promise people? The promise of God is not a cheap cultural or spiritual gimmick. The promise of God is Eternal life where we get seated on the right hand side of Christ. The name of the Lord is a strong Tower, the righteous will run into it and be safe. But the Towers of Babel built with the demonic doctrines of the wicked men is cooking recipes of Spiritual disaster. Enter and abide in the everlasting Kingdom of God and celebrate your life with Christ. The Door to the Kingdom of God is Christ the Son of Man, let no other man dare to stand in His place.

He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him !!!!

Leaders of today, if you have read this much, it’s time to self examine to renew your minds to upgrade your commitment to the new covenant of Christ. You are wonderfully and fearfully created for the glorious purposes of God. Reflect astonishing excellence in everything you think or speak or do. Nevertheless whole heartedly seek the face of the Father for fulfilling the desires of His heart. Don’t fall for cheap alternatives in order to please people more than God. Stop self worshiping, get back to your first love and fix your eyes on Christ. The Lamb of God alone is worthy to receive all the praise and glory for every good work His grace has done through us. Without putting the mask of self righteousness let us seriously scan our deepest motives and desires before our God who is holy and surrender to HIM completely. Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth shall gaze upon Him and beat their breasts and mourn and lament over Him. Even so [must it be]. Amen (so be it). -Rev 1:7

Without a trace of selfish ambition re-define your passion for Christ all over again. When His Majesty the Lion of Judah appears, let HIM find you faithful and fruitful in His Kingdom. Hold on to what is everlasting, in the spirit of excellence accomplish everything God wants you to accomplish in this generation for the praise of His glory. When your heart is deeply rooted in Christ, from you God creates a glorious masterpiece molded in the mind of Christ.

Blessed are the pure in heart, they will see the face of the KING of GLORY shining on them everlastingly. May God be with you always to guide you till the end. Amen!!! – http://www.vjtraven.com

In the name of Jesus people pray, teach, preach, praise, sing, clap and dance in corporate worship. But even after participating in all these acts of faith, a true worshiper’s inner man endlessly craves for a fresh encounter with God face to face. He discovers immeasurable favor of God through constantly hungering more of Christ. We can do all things for Christ without intimately uniting with HIM in the Spirit and truth. In the act of worship, if we present our minds and bodies without a sacrifice to please God by doing the perfect will of God, then we worship God in vain.

In person get united with Christ intimately and get filled with the fullness of the knowledge of Christ. A trillion Thesis’s of Christology means nothing without a saint eternally becoming a true companion of Christ in real life. Check out what A W Tozer said,“The devil is a better theologian than any of us and is a devil still.”  – http://www.vjtraven.com

Giving a greater blessing than receiving!!!

January 10, 2010

Day after day we constantly seek God to receive endless gifts from Him for our needs. Yes, we are created for praise, fame and honor. God provides all our needs according to the riches in the glory of Christ. By faith we can accumulate every good gift God has given to us to enjoy and do good works to glorify Him. God provides all our need not our greed.

We should worship the Giver not the gift. In our good times never ignore Christ the Greatest Gift we have ever received from Heaven. Along with Christ, all other gifts from Heaven are given to us who believed in Him. If we constantly seek the Greatest Giver’s Kingdom and His righteousness, then we won’t lack any good thing.

When tested, the true worshipers sacrifice all good gifts for the sake of gaining Christ and please God. Paul said, for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. A true worshiper yearns for God, like a Bride yearns for the Bridegroom because she belongs to Him. Her heart comprehends what her Beloved Lord needs. Forever, His greatest need is her constant companionship.

When Lord seeks our companionship, we can grieve His heart if we don’t distribute what we have received to glorify Him by getting separated from all the gifts to bond with God the Great Giver. This is where worship is about imitating Christ who gave Himself for us on the cross to save us. Let nothing separate us from the everlasting love of Christ. True God pleasing worship is about giving Christ, ourselves as a gift without a spot and wrinkle. A true worshiper considers giving a greater blessing than receiving.

If we give ourselves to Him, He will make us into a Vessel of great honor and take us way with Him. The  King of Glory is coming!!! Are you ready to go with Him? Then, do not set your minds on the earthly things, but on things above where Christ is seated on the Throne.

Renewal of Mind through Paul’s letter to Philemon!

January 4, 2010

The letter of Apostle Paul to Philemon was specifically written for renewing the mind of the young disciple regarding an issue related to his old slave. Evidently Onesimus had escaped from Philemon in Colosse to Rome. And then he was caught and put in prison. There he became a disciple of Christ through his close acquaintance with Apostle Paul. As a slave, he was the legal property of Philemon and in addition Onesimus had stolen some of Philemon’s goods. Here Paul is urging Philemon to accept a previous slave and thief as a new born-again brother in Christ. This mission letter for the renewal of mind is written very sensitively and meaningfully by Paul. With grace Paul discloses the heart of the matter in the mind of Christ to encourage and move the emotions of Philemon so that he will deny himself to please God.

A slave is liberated from the bondage by Christ the Liberator. And He has become a new creation in Christ, to be a brother of his old master. Here Paul is working on the mindset of Philemon so that he won’t be reluctant to accept Onesimus as a brother. Paul’s wisdom, grace and his deep conviction on this matter make us also renew our minds regarding our relationships to worship God with reverence and awe.

1. The Grace, Peace and prayer for the “Renewal of mind”.

[Philemon 1.1-5] – Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our beloved brother and fellow worker, and to Apphia, and to Archippus, and to the church in your house: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints.

To liberate a born-again slave from the mindset of his born-again master, Paul discloses the larger dimensions of the truth in the tenderness of a mother for his son to get deeply rooted in Christ. And he begins this letter by identifying himself as a bond slave of Christ in the prison. We need to receive God’s grace and peace through the inspiration of the lives and messages of the leaders. We also need the prayers of the saints to always deny ourselves and follow Christ. Paul is reminding Philemon, who he is in Christ and how beautifully secure and praise worthy he is in Him. And this Good News will illuminate Philemon’s inner man to receive the grace for renewing his mind to please God according to what Paul is saying next. Paul’s life, motives, prayer and teaching will influence Philemon to leave what is childish for growing fully mature in Christ. Vigorous growth and spiritual maturity happens only when we constantly chase the heart of God and gather His deeper thoughts to renew our mind daily. A true Worshipper sustains his spiritual life through inhaling the mind of Christ as the Oxygen and exhaling the mind of the flesh as the carbon dioxide. Before starting a heart surgery with the Sword of the Spirit, Paul uses extra ordinary grace and wisdom as a dose of Anesthesia on Philemon. The first four verses are doing that job meaningfully.

2. The Thanks giving, recognition, appreciation and encouragement for the Renewal of mind.

[Philemon 1.6- 7] – I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ’s sake. For I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother. Therefore, though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is proper, yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you–since I am such a person as Paul, the aged, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus–

Paul is thanking and praising God for Philemon and his team. Paul is recognizing their praise-worthy testimony in relationship to God and His people. Paul mentions here, you have done what you are supposed to do, but now there is room for improvement. You have refreshed the heart of all the saints, but your old slave turned saint is returning home, can you refresh his heart? Paul truly appreciates the loyalty and Divinity of the local Church. And then he is preparing the reader to expand his mindset. Paul demands Philemon, the denial of his role as a legitimate master by accepting the glorious role of a legitimate brother in Christ who will accept a new creation in Christ. A previous slave who has stolen his owner’s goods and escaped from his master needed to be forgiven first. God has forgiven Him, because he accepted Christ as His master. Now, as a child of God, Onesimus will ask forgiveness to Philemon when he comes there. And there he should be accepted as a new born child of Paul and should be honored as a saint of Christ. Renewal of mind is always sacrificial and it can only be done, by submitting to each other in the fear of Christ. This can happen only when Philemon joyfully says, “I am crucified with Christ. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me to renew my mind according to the perfect will of the Father”.

3. The renewal of mind as a faithful soldier’s duty to serve God
[Philemon 1.7-9] – For I have derived great joy and comfort and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints have been cheered and refreshed through you, brother. I have abundant boldness in Christ to charge you to do what is fitting and required and your duty to do, Yet for love’s sake I prefer to appeal to you, just for what I am– I, Paul, an ambassador [of Christ] and an old man and now a prisoner for His sake.

The existing Christian character and conduct of Philemon is causing great joy. However harder the renewal of mind seems to be, it should be done as a faithful soldiers duty in the service to the King of Glory. Paul says I am an ambassador of the King of Kings, but I have become an old man in a prison on behalf of the Lord. He says; remember me enduring in these humiliating conditions for Christ sake. And now I am joyfully doing my duty now as an Apostle writing the perfect will of God to you. I am leading you to what pleases the compassionate heart of the King of Love. Renewal of mind is an act of worship. It is done in remembrance of Christ who pleased His Father through His Sacrifice to save us.

4. Renewal of mind through forgetting the past history and focusing on the glorious destiny.

[Philemon 1.10-13] – I appeal to you for my [own spiritual] child, Onesimus], whom I have begotten [in the faith] while a captive in these chains. Once he was unprofitable to you, but now he is indeed profitable to you as well as to me. I am sending him back to you in his own person, [and it is like sending] my very heart. I would have chosen to keep him with me, in order that he might minister to my needs in your stead during my imprisonment for the Gospel’s sake. But it has been my wish to do nothing about it without first consulting you and getting your consent, in order that your benevolence might not seem to be the result of compulsion or of pressure but might be voluntary [on your part].

The name Onesimus means profitable, and now he is not profitable to Philemon. But the slave boy is considered precious by the Owner of our souls and Christ has bought Onesimus for God with His own blood. The old slave has entered into the genealogy of Divinity by faith in Christ. So he is profitable for the Kingdom of God by the grace he has received. Now the renewal of mind is mandatory to please God and the ball is the court of Philemon.

Paul is in the ministry of reconciliation. Paul wrote about forgetting the past for receiving greater rewards in the Glory of Christ, in Philippians 3.7-8. “But whatever former things I had that might have been gains to me, I have come to consider as loss for Christ’s sake. Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish, in order that I may win Christ (the Anointed One)”.

5. Renewal of mind is a sacrifice done in the free will for the sake of benevolence

There is no fear in love; perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love -1Jn 4.18. So Paul is not using his apostolic authority to make Philemon accept his old slave as a brother through fear. And if Philemon half heartedly accept or completely rejects Onesimus out of hatred, then God will consider Philemon a murderer. And at all cost, Paul want to avoid that spiritual disaster. So Paul said, “Therefore, though I have abundant boldness in Christ to charge you to do what is fitting and required and your duty to do, Yet for love’s sake I prefer to appeal to you just for what I am– I, Paul, an ambassador [of Christ] and an old man and now a prisoner for His sake also”.

By all means Paul shows respect to Philemon’s God given freedom to renew his mind without any external pressure. God is Love and God is Light. And the Light has the heat of the Consuming Fire and Light has its own Divine pressure. All we need to do is to switch on the light and disclose the eternal truth in love. The Love will put its pressure under the power of the Holy Spirit. It is written, ”Our faith rests in God’s power”. Paul said, [Philemon 1.14] -“But it has been my wish to do nothing about it without first consulting you and getting your consent, in order that your benevolence might not seem to be the result of compulsion or of pressure but might be voluntary [on your part].”

God pleasing renewal of mind is not done under circumstantial or relational pressure. It is joyfully done under the Divine pressure of God’s love through the free will of the saint. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus willfully exchanged His free will with the will of the Father. He said, “Let Your will be done not Mine”. Father did not use any force on His beloved Son, but Jesus in His free will died, out of His benevolence for us.

6. Renewal of mind is done in remembrance of the true testimony of Character and Conduct

[Philemon 1:10-13] – I appeal to you for my [own spiritual] child, Onesimus [meaning profitable], whom I have begotten [in the faith] while a captive in these chains. Once he was unprofitable to you, but now he is indeed profitable to you as well as to me. I am sending him back to you in his own person, [and it is like sending] my very heart. I would have chosen to keep him with me, in order that he might minister to my needs in your stead during my imprisonment for the Gospel’s sake.(AMP)

Timothy was Paul’s beloved son in faith; similarly Onesimus also has become Paul’s beloved son in Christ and Paul is declaring his relationship with Onesimus with great pride. Paul from the heart of a father is convincing Philemon his elder spiritual son about Onesimus his new-born son. Deeper renewal of mind can be produced by people only when we have unbreakable relationships with each other. Loveless preaching cannot capture the hearts of the listeners. Ministry of reconciliation done for a meaningful renewal of mind is only fruitful when it is done with the heart of a Father. Stiff people with no Father’s heart leads people to spiritual destruction, they cannot lead people to real transformation. Preachers need a Father’s heart. If we preach the truth without love, we will fail to witness the transformation of the listeners. True Love gives God a chance to touch the hearts.

Onesimus is only a slave to Philemon, Philemon has not done anything to bring Onesimus to Christ. But to Paul, Onesimus has become a spiritual son born in Christ as a brother of Philemon now. Paul has taken labor pains in the prison to see the life of Christ being formed in Onesimus. So Paul also testifies about the character and conduct of Onesimus comparable to Philemon himself. Onesimus served Paul in Philemon’s absence in the prison and became Paul’s heart in Christ.  So in a way Paul is pleading to Philemon, don’t break my heart. Renewal of mind cannot be cannot be done if your heart is hard or cold. There is no other way for Philemon to please God in connection with Onesimus. Denying himself and following Jesus is the only God pleasing way. Renewal of mind cannot be ignored any more now, it is absolutely mandatory

7. Renewal of mind is done as a voluntary act for growing mature in Christ.

[Philemon 1.14-16] But it has been my wish to do nothing about it without first consulting you and getting your consent, in order that your benevolence might not seem to be the result of compulsion or of pressure but might be voluntary [on your part]. Perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated [from you] for a while, that you might have him back as yours forever, Not as a slave any longer but as [something] more than a slave, as a brother [Christian], especially dear to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh [as a servant] and in the Lord [as a fellow believer].

Even if you have a Father’s heart, even if you speak higher Heavenly standards with deep conviction and compassion, renewal of mind that pleases God is still the fruit of the free will of the follower. Follower will get a reward for what he has done after hearing the Word of God, Leader will get a reward for living and preaching the uncontaminated Word. And as a leader, Paul is not abusing or not even using his authority to control Philemon’s will externally. Paul wrote God’s thoughts to Philemon and waits for the internal response from the free will of Philemon patiently. Without over influencing, without manipulating or controlling, Paul is humbling and nearly pleading as a servant before Philemon, just to witness a renewal of mind that pleases God. Here Paul is projecting Philemon as a boss with self control.

This is the astonishing wisdom of Paul. Always Truth has its own power, Divinity and authority to influence the hearts of people. Eternal Truth is all worthy to be followed by any man. God wants every man to know the truth, because it can set the captives free. Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life, He is the Alpha and the Omega. Truth will not be understood because it is just preached or heard. Truth has to be revealed by the Father and if we accept it then our inner man will get illuminated to follow the truth. That’s why Jesus asked his 12 Disciples “Tell me who I am”. Truth can be followed only if, the Father enlightens our heart.

The spirit of a man is the lamp of God. On the way to Emmaus Jesus spoke the truth to the disciples and their hearts were on Fire and then God opened their eyes for the vision of Christ. Paul is not pretending God here, even though he is the mouth piece of God here. Paul knows he cannot do what God alone can do. Jesus Christ alone is the Lord, and Paul is not ashamed of the Gospel of that Christ. And Paul is not even ashamed to humble himself before Philemon his co-worker. Paul knows, “Those who are led by the Spirit are the Sons of God”. And if you are a son, you cannot sin, because the seed of God is in you and it will enlighten you forever. Philemon is a son, so Paul knows Philemon doesn’t need compulsion or pressure from outside to please God.

Paul is a man of hope because the Love that is poured out in the heart of Paul is a love that hopes, Philemon will surrender to God’s expectations. So Paul is openly disclosing what is pleasing to God and giving time and space for Philemon to respond willfully to God’s word. Paul is patiently waiting for the renewal of mind in the heart of Philemon. This will make Philemon deny the ownership of Onesimus, before the ownership of Christ who bought Onesimus and Philemon with the price of His blood on the cross. Every knee shall bow; every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is the Lord without external pressure. The Lamb of God who was slain for all is worthy to be praised eternally. Amen !!!

8. Renewal of mind happens because of the Compulsion of the everlasting love of Christ.

[Philemon 1.15-25] For perhaps he departed for a while for this purpose, that you might receive him forever, no longer as a slave but more than a slave–a beloved brother, especially to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord. If then you count me as a partner, receive him as you would me. But if he has wronged you or owes anything, put that on my account. I, Paul, am writing with my own hand. I will repay–not to mention to you that you owe me even your own self besides. Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in the Lord. Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say. But, meanwhile, also prepare a guest room for me, for I trust that through your prayers I shall be granted to you. Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you, as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow laborers. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Paul as an Ambassador of God is convincing Philemon about the purposes of God by disconnecting him from the thoughts on earth and uplifting him to the thoughts of eternity. Paul is letting the love of Christ compel Philemon for a true renewal of mind. Until and unless we shift our focus to Christ, renewal of mind doesn’t happen fruitfully. If we are not in agreement with God’s purposes on earth, our eternal rewards can get lost as a result of our ignorance and self worship. Perhaps Paul has already prepared the mindset of Onesimus to get back to where things went wrong. Things need to get right with his old owner who is now a brother in Christ. Renewal of mind is about bravely taking a step of faith to do God’s will without any friction from the flesh. Here the enemy is the mind of the flesh and influences of the world brings evil imaginations against the perfect will of God. Paul wants Philemon and Onesimus to become more than conquerors in this matter.

Now, Onesimus is a born-again man and he is a new creation, old things have passed away and all things have become new. For freedom Christ has set him free. Still he need to get reconciled with his old master and Paul is sending him back to Philemon with faith.  Paul has faith in the obedience of Philemon, He knows Philemon will refresh his heart. If there is no hope, renewal of mind never happens when the truth is spoken. So without commanding the renewal of mind as an Apostle, in a father’s heart, Paul is demanding Philemon’s love to him which will be pure obedience to Christ. Renewal of mind is impossible when relationship is broken. So Paul ministered the Renewal of mind to beloved Philemon so sensitively and tactfully.

Renewal of mind is essential to both the old slave and the old master. Paul wrote in [1 Tim 6.1-2], “All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be spoken against. In [Eph 6.9] Paul said, “Masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

Paul said again, “We are the ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God [2 Cori 5.14-20]. In the love of God, Paul pleaded to Philemon, he said, “Receive him forever, no longer as a slave but more than a slave–a beloved brother.”, By all means Paul want to witness the renewal of mind.

Apostle Paul who wrote half of the New Testament remembered what Christ has done on the cross for all. What Paul is today is all because of the grace he has received through the sacrifice of Christ. So from the depth of his heart Paul pleaded again to Philemon not to reject Onesimus as a brother.”If then you count me as a partner, receive him as you would me. But if he has wronged you or owes anything, put that on my account”. By saying this Paul was exactly representing Christ the Good Samaritan on earth. Lives may change if we are ready to take few risks to please God who risked His only begotten Son for us. Today God is seeking the true worshipers. So that Holy Spirit who doesn’t have a Body can abide in the one which is willing to sacrifice the mind of the flesh to represent the mind of Christ on earth. Such a person is the Temple of the Living God.

About such people Christ said I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Are we available? Are we buildable? Are we ready to renew our minds….then remember what Christ said, “Destroy this temple? I will build it in three days”. And He fulfilled His promise when He died on the cross and rose again from the dead….But what about us? Can we deny ourselves and willfully renew our mind today to please God with all our heart?!!! God bless! Amen!!!

The True Story of True Companions.

December 27, 2009

Nearly a decade ago, when a prayer meeting was going on, two medical doctors brought a sinking orphan boy in the midst of the congregation and challenged the Christian faith. By Faith my friends prayed over Him in the name of Jesus and God in His mercy miraculously healed that boy from the last stages of kidney trouble. Through the manifestation of the supremacy of Christ, that boy was healed by the stripes of Jesus and those doctors accepted the Lordship of Christ and got baptized in water in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost.

Many years passed and this boy grew up and was committed for Christian ministry. But he was inconsistent in remaining in the first love of his relationship with Christ. He struggled to identify and overcome the deception of the devil most of the time and nearly shipwrecked his faith. We should constantly obey what Christ commanded to whom He delivered and healed. Remember what the Lord said, “Sin no more” which simply means to deny your self and live a sacrificial life of Worship and endlessly please God. This young man got married early and everything was going on fine until the day he was admitted in the hospital, where he spoke to me over the phone and said his kidneys are seriously back in trouble. Suddenly after two days, unfortunately his condition worsened, he passed away in the hospital. We felt terrible about his sudden demise and next day we went to attend his funeral in his village named Othara.

But one thing I remember, as he said his life was in trouble, by God’s grace I found him joyful and thankful to Christ for giving him an extension of life which he enjoyed for some years without the help of medicines for Kidney trouble. While attending the funeral, we all were so deeply moved when his wife kissed the face of her dear husband for the very last time. In the outburst of sorrowful emotions, she cried loudly “Take me away too and bury me with my beloved, why am I left alone here on earth with out him”. Tears filled everyone’s eyes and we witnessed the unbearable pain of someone’s heart who lost her true companion on earth. Words fail to describe a person’s agony of love caused by the pain of the death of someone who existed as one body and one mind on earth.

Here my heart saw the reflection of the true story in Calvary, where Jesus lost His companions God the Father and the Holy Ghost for a few hours on earth on behalf of us. Christ became an abandoned Man of sorrows for us in His loneliness of the cross. And” He cried Eli Eli Lamma Shabakthani !!! Which means My God, My God why did You leave Me alone???” The Father of Glory and the Spirit of Glory also horribly suffered the absence of Jesus in the Throne Room of God. The Throne of the Son of Glory was empty for a little while in eternity as He was slain for redeeming our souls in Calvary. As we know, then Christ committed His Spirit into the hands of the Father and died to save us from the punishment of all our sins against God and men. In eternity, the mystery of the Trinity is about unbreakable unity, but in order to unite with us in deep intimacy, God left His only begotten Son alone to cling on to the nails of the cross so that we can cling on to Christ and come in union with God forever. Christ bought us with a price by hanging on the cross to build us as the temple of God so that God can abide in us as our true companion for ever!!!

Now, is there anybody craving to cling on to Christ the Rebonai and eternally remain as His true and intimate companion?!!! Once disciple Peter failed to cling on and unfortunately denied Him three times and Christ looked at Him with one look of compassion during His sufferings to carry our sins. And later the resurrected Lord asked Peter a very passionate question, “Do you love Me more than these?”….Today, if the Lord ask us this same question, how will we answer? Like the young man’s wife who cried with pain, does our soul carry a flame of love that refuses to part with Christ our Companion? Are we His true companions? Are we committed to stand the test of time on our cross and prove our companionship with Christ like He proved it for us on the cross??? Are we ready to get crucified with Christ to fellowship with Him in His resurrection?

May God witness our heart answering that question every single day until Christ comes. Through constant living sacrifices to cling on to the One who gave His life for us, let’s say, yes Lord we love and adore You, with a life of worship we will honor You!!!

With a great sense of urgency, Let’s run after the heart of Christ, Let’s hurry and say, take me away with You Lord. Let’s follow Him and abide in Him in all the days of our lives. Christ is the beginning and the end, He is the Alpha and the Omega!!! He is the very Breath of Life. Kiss the One who sits at the Throne, let nothing separate us from the love of Christ!!! Amen

The Bride of the Lamb is a living body which constantly walks in submission to Christ the Head. The Bride denies herself to follow the Spirit of God every single day. By His power she deadens the works of the flesh and obeys the Word of God with no compromise. She keeps herself separated from the ways of the world and she overcomes the evil one by always abiding in Christ. This makes her remain spotlessly radiant and flawlessly Christ perfect. For the fulfillment of God’s purposes, God pleasing Church leaders and congregations completely allows the Holy Spirit to flow beyond their experiential Xerox’s of human understanding.

Move of the Holy Spirit can be very radically new, but it is forever driven by the same Holy purposes of God and it never contradict the great Biblical Principles. One day in a Pastors conference, someone introduced me as a mighty man of God to the audience. I felt a little awkward and shy, because the intro was over emphasizing the servant than the grace of the Master. I humbled myself and gave Father God all the praise and honor in advance for everything He is goanna do using me as His servant. I am scared of the introductions that create negative impacts. It can send wrong signals to the audience until you break the ice and delete the non-sense from the minds of people.

As I went up on stage to minister, I told myself, “You are just a weak donkey, but don’t worry, the One who sits on you is a Mighty Lion”. When I entered the pulpit, God’s Presence and His Lordship was very evident, the atmosphere was ready to explode in the fullness of the Holy Ghost. I understood I need to stand still, so I was speechless and there was pin drop silence for few minutes and it supernaturally continued. I saw people crying and listening to God. The manifestation of His awesome presence led people to an intimate conversation with God. And If I speak a word, I may be disturbing their intimate communion with God. And then Holy Spirit the Counselor told me wait for few seconds more and utter these words. “Breathe Christ, the very Breath of life”. I said that and I saw everyone started to breathe heavily!!! What was done as an act of faith in obedience to what Holy Spirit said led us to a time of celebration of great Joy. An extra-ordinary anointing fell on the people as I started ministering. God broke the bondages, healed wounded hearts and transformed lives like never before and we were all blessed by the great move of God in that night.

But this Divine experience cannot be duplicated by human will in some other place. It can form a new doctrine which is not at all scriptural and also not prompted by the Holy Spirit. God can do something new every day, sometimes He may do the old things again in His Sovereign will. Jesus Christ is the Lord, we are not. Don’t pretend as the Master, we are called to be His bond servants. Here we need to seek God with all our heart and remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit to execute His perfect will.

The style and directions of His moves may change every new day, but His motives are clear and pure forever. If the move is from the Head, it illuminates the whole body of Christ. Therefore, follow the Holy Spirit in every breath we breathe and every thought we think and every word we speak and every step we take. We should remember, the first century Saints never had the printed Bible like we have it today. But the Sons of God meticulously followed the Spirit of God the Teacher who imprinted the teaching of the Word of God in the hearts of the Saints. When they obeyed the Word in union with Christ, that history was written in the Breath of God and it formed the pages of the Bible we read now. Today we have Bibles in many versions and hundreds of languages. But unlike the first century saints, today we lack the deep conviction about the written Word and we miss the inseparable communion with the Living Word. If we are not desperate we won’t be able to catch up with the brand marks of the Bride.

And these days, be watchful of people who overdo teachings and distort Biblical Principles regarding the moves of God. Paul said to Timothy (1Tim 1.3-8) ” Instruct certain people not to teach any different doctrine, and not to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies that promote speculations rather than the Divine training that is known by faith.

Here Paul exposes the sharp motive of the teaching. He says “The aim of instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience and sincere faith. Some people have deviated from these and turned to meaningless talk, desiring to be teachers without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make assertions.

Paul who wrote half of the New Testament says, I want to know Him more deeply and intimately, through the power of resurrection and for that he was willing to pay the price. He expressed his willingness to share in the sufferings of Christ. Let’s be God conscious than people conscious for the perfecting work of God to be done in us. His touch can accomplish greater things according to His will than hours of human counseling or preaching.

In 2010 a remnant church that is hungry for God’s word and thirsty for His Holy Spirit is goanna rise up. More than self pleasing, people or world pleasing they will be deeply concerned about pleasing God through every move of the Holy Spirit. The Bride is always ready to obey the Word and follow the Holy Spirit every day. Hello…what about you ?!!!

May God be with you to teach you and guide you through in 2010 and for ever. Amen!!!

The glorious make-up materials for the Queen in the gold of Ophir.

December 24, 2009

Sons of Korah sang in Psalm 45, “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever”.

At the right hand of the King of Glory stands the queen of flawless beauty in the gold of Ophir.

Hear, O daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your people and your father’s house, and the King will desire your beauty. The princess is decked in her chamber with gold-woven robes; in many-colored robes she is led to the King; behind her the virgins, her companions, follow.

Song of Solomon described her, You are beautiful as Tirzah, my love, comely as Jerusalem, terrible as an army with banners. The King said, “Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance.

Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the covert of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. Turn away your eyes from me, for they overwhelm me! My dove, my perfect one, is the only one, the darling of her mother, flawless to her that bore her. The maidens saw her and called her happy; the queens and concubines also, and they praised her. “Who is this that looks forth like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army with banners?”

The most beautiful make-up materials applied for the Glorious Bride of the Lamb are:- The illuminating Glory of Christ for the face, humility and purity for the heart, deep compassion for the eyes, the Breath of God for the nose, Eternal Truth for the lips, joyful laughter for the mouth, the Word of God for the ears, the praise and thanks giving for the tongue, integrity for the chest, Revelation of Christ for the neck, the most holy faith for the legs, Good News for the feet, prayer for the knees, Sword of the Spirit and charity for the hands !!!

The true worshipers of God avoid the masks of diplomatic hypocrisy, they run after the heart of God and deny the evil passions of the flesh and reject the ungodly pleasures of this world and flee from all sexual immorality. The wedding of the Lamb is coming, His Bride is constantly preparing herself ready by meditating and doing the perfect will of God that makes her perfect in Christ. She is predestined to be seated with Christ forever in the heavenly places. She does the God pleasing act of spiritual make-up daily and remain gloriously radiant in the fullness of the abundance of grace that is in Christ !!!

Our King is coming soon, any time the Bridegroom may appear, the time is near. The Bride’s heart is crying with a sense of urgency, she says “Take me away with you, let’s hurry” -Song 1.4.

Wishing you all a glorious and prosperous New Year in Christ.

The great ecstasy in Heaven!!!

December 22, 2009

Ecstasy seekers and givers forget about the great ecstasy in Heaven when a sinner repents. If the ecstasy don’t lead to our renewal of mind, that ecstasy is Christ less and lifeless. The greatest ecstasy happened on earth was in the lonely Island of Patmos, where Apostle John had a Vision of Christ the King of Glory. There, in ecstasy  John conceived the greatness of the Revelation of Christ. Hello…any body want to see my King, the Lion of Judah? I bet you will be inexplicably ecstatic !!! Don’t get carried away by cheap duplicates !!!
